Steel fabrication leader to invest $1.5 million, create 20 jobs
NASHVILLE – MIG Steel Fabrication, LLC announced today that it will expand in Lexington. The leader in steel fabrication will invest $1.5 million and create 20 new jobs in Henderson County.
“Manufacturers Industrial Group has grown to become one of Tennessee’s largest employers and it is very encouraging that its subsidiary, MIG Steel Fabrication, is planning to further invest and create jobs in its hometown of Lexington,” TNECD Chief Operating Officer Ted Townsend said. “Expansions by existing companies show businesses have confidence in the strength of Tennessee’s workforce and we’d like to thank MIG Steel Fabrication for its continued role in Henderson County’s economy.”
MIG Steel Fabrication, a subsidiary to Lexington’s Manufacturers Industrial Group, LLC, began in 2007 as a fabrication service to the larger family of MIG subsidiaries, which employ approximately 1,800 people at six Tennessee locations.
MIG Steel Fabrication has since grown to become a leader in steel fabrication solutions in West Tennessee, employing 45 people and providing structural steel and other fabricated metals for the broader industrial, commercial and medical construction markets across the Southeast.
“We are extremely pleased to receive training assistance from TNECD,” Andre Gist, CEO of Manufacturers Industrial Group, said. “In this competitive and scarce skill trade environment, these funds are crucial to develop workers needed for our business.”
MIG’s Steel Fabrication’s investment in its Lexington facility will go toward purchasing new machinery equipment to meet growing demand. The company will hire welders, pipe fitters and salaried support staff.
Local officials applauded MIG Steel Fabrication for its expansion plans in Lexington.
“Any news concerning the creation of additional jobs in our county is certainly welcome news to the people who live here,” Henderson County Mayor Dan Hughes said. “We appreciate the expansion here so much that our governments and people stand ready to assist in any way. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with MIG Steel Fabrication in the future as it grows and develops."
“The decision by MIG Steel Fabrication to expand in our community further strengthens its position as an important part of Lexington’s manufacturing industry,” City of Lexington Mayor David Jowers said. “We take pride in the fact that our quality workforce and business-friendly environment influenced this decision to further invest in our community. We look forward to seeing the impact this growing company will continue to have on our county.”
“We are excited to partner with the Department of Economic & Community Development as we assist MIG Steel Fabrication in expanding and creating new jobs for our citizens,” Teresa Jones, executive director of the Lexington-Henderson County Alliance, said. “MIG Steel Fabrication’s decision to invest further in Henderson County by creating new jobs within its facility is a real reason to celebrate, and we look forward to this company's continued growth in Lexington for many years to come."
Lexington and Henderson County are represented by Sen. Dolores Gresham (R – Somerville) and Rep. Steve McDaniel (R – Parkers Crossroads) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
