Metal Processing and Distributing Company to Invest $32.6 Million, Create 42 New Jobs

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with Bill Chisholm, president and CEO of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, announced today the company will locate new manufacturing operations in Tennessee by constructing a 105,000 square foot facility in NorthPointe Industrial Park in Columbia. Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, the largest family-owned metal processor and distributor in North America, will invest $32.6 million and create 42 new jobs in Maury County.

“Samuel, Son & Co., Limited will be a great addition to Tennessee’s thriving manufacturing sector, and I am certain the company will find a welcoming home in the Columbia business community,” Hagerty said. “When companies recognize and take advantage of the benefits of doing business in Tennessee, it results in success not only for the company, but for our state as it builds upon the momentum behind the Tennessee brand. I appreciate Samuel, Son & Co., Limited for choosing to locate in Maury County and for supporting our state’s quality workforce.”

“This additional capacity shows our commitment to the automotive market,” Chisholm said. “Our customers have grown to expect a lot from Samuel. This investment allows us to step up and deliver the service and quality our customers require for their current and future business needs.”

“We have been working very closely with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Maury County Chamber and Economic Alliance, and the city of Columbia for many months on this project, all of whom have been very helpful in assisting Samuel with site selection as well as introduction to local vendors and the area’s labor force,” Samuel, Son & Co., Limited Project Manager Rob Whitmore said. “The process has been one of high cooperation and collaboration ending in this successful conclusion.”

The Columbia location will specialize in metal processing, blanking steel and aluminum coils for supply to the automotive stamping industry. The company has already doubled the size of the facility from its initial discussions with the state and county, adding a state-of-the-art slitting line for steel and aluminum.

Samuel, Son & Co., Limited offers end-to-end solutions in the distribution, transportation, processing and manufacturing of metals and industrial products. With locations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, China and Australia, the company employs a workforce of 5,300 worldwide.
