NASHVILLE—Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Global Manufacturing Services, Inc. (GMS) officials announced today the company will invest $620,000 in new equipment upgrades at its Columbia tire mold manufacturing facility. The announcement represents the creation of 43 new jobs in Maury County.

“Tennessee has the largest concentration of automotive industry employment in the South, and employment in this sector has grown ten times faster than overall jobs in the state,” Boyd said. “I want to thank GMS for its continued investment in Maury County and for providing valuable jobs for our Team Tennessee workforce.”

“Tire manufacturers require high quality products and services, delivered as quickly as  possible. The continued investment in exceptional people and equipment will allow us to exceed the needs of existing and future customers,” Global Manufacturing Services, Inc. President Mike Carson said.

GMS specializes in engineering, designing, manufacturing and repairing tire molds at its Columbia facility, which serves most of the North American tire market. The company has purchased new equipment, including cranes, and will make building modifications to accommodate the equipment.

Those interested in applying for a position with GMS can mail or hand deliver resumes to the facility at 2207 Oakland Parkway in Columbia, or email [email protected].

Columbia and Maury County are represented by Sen. Joey Hensley (R – Hohenwald), Rep. Sheila Butt (R – Columbia) and Rep. David Shepard (D – Dickson) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
