If we were choosing a new car, our recently enhanced County Profile Tool would be the equivalent of a fully loaded luxury sedan. We’ve traded in the base model and customized this version with lots of options to help corporate decision makers, site selectors and local economic development organizations easily identify potential business locations throughout the state.
The upgraded version of the County Profile Tool allows users to view comprehensive data by individual county or region on population and demographics, tax structure, labor force, education, housing and income, health and public safety, industries, top employers, climate, and community information.
“The new Tool is designed with our stakeholders in mind and is actually based on the top questions we receive from site selectors,” commented Sally Haar, TNECD Research Director. “To help with important expansion or relocation decisions, we use multiple data sources that are updated regularly to ensure we have the best information available at any given time.”
Users can create custom statewide maps on tablets and desktop browsers showing the Select Tennessee Certified Sites, 4-year colleges, community and technical colleges, commercial airports, general airports, major ports, interstates, major roads, railroads and/or waterways.
There’s also a new heat map section that shows statewide educational attainment, personal income per capita, population, total employment, unemployment rate, and total employment by industry. Available industries include: advanced manufacturing; aerospace and defense; automotive; business services; chemicals, plastics and rubber; energy technology; film, music and entertainment; food and agribusiness; healthcare and medical devices; and transportation, distribution and logistics.
“We tried to create a resource that is user friendly and provides a rich interface across multiple mobile platforms,” said Justin Lane, TNECD Marketing Director. “We’re excited about the new features that will provide pertinent and immediate information to corporate site selectors and our local economic development organizations alike.”
If all this great information wasn’t enough, users have the additional ability to save the data as a PDF or export it into an Excel spreadsheet. Be sure to take our new County Profile Tool for a test drive and experience all its handy features for yourself.
